Learn basic sewing and cutting techniques to put you on the path to being a good quilter. You will learn to use a rotary cutter, rulers and follow a basic pattern to perfect your cutting skills which is the beginning step to good block construction.  This is a 2 part class event and you will have a lap quilt top approximately 50"x60" finished or close to finished. In part 2 of the class you will also practice 2 other blocks as a skill builder including squaring up blocks which is a technique used in many patterns.  Call or stop by the shop any day before the class with any questions or help with fabric selection so you will be ready to start the class.   Basic working machine is needed for this class, 1/4" foot preferred or regular foot, pins, small scissors and thread. Tools needed for class are a rotary cutter and useful Rulers are a  6-1/2" square and a 6"x12" rectangle.   If you are very new to sewing and need to purchase notions we are happy to advise you on quality products which will last many years.
Fabric suggestions: A Layer Cake can be used, also 1 yard of background fabric (light), This project can also be scrappy using darks, mediums and light-background.  There is an option to add 1 or 2 borders- 3/8 yard for inner border and 1 yard for outer border which will be discussed during the class.
